FAA Form 7460-1

Notice of Proposed Construction or Alteration

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires a permit on construction cranes (mobile or static), towers, and tall buildings any time that they will exceed a 100:1 sloped surface from the nearest point of the nearest runway out to 20,000ft or 200 feet AGL (above ground level) beyond.

The FAA requires that Form 7460-1 be submitted at least 30 days prior to the proposed start date of construction, or the date an application for a construction permit is to be filed. The FAA will then issue a Notice of Determination and make notification of any necessary provisions prior to beginning construction. Separate Form 7460-1’s are required for the permanent structure and the construction crane itself.
